Quincy man arrested for Indecent Assault & Battery

On December 28, 2016 at approximately 7:45PM Transit Police officers assigned to the South District received a radio call to respond to the MBTA's Riverside Station located in Newton for a report of an MBTA employee who the victim of an Indecent Assault & Battery. Upon arrival the officers were met by the victim who informed the officers of the following: while travelling on a Green Line trolley en route to Riverside a male, later identified as John Alves, 34, of Quincy indecently assaulted the victim. Upon arriving at Riverside Alves exited the train and approached another MBTA employee and stated "  I just wanted to give her a hug and kiss".


Alves was located nearby, positively identified and placed into custody for Indecent Assault & Battery. Alves was transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. During this process it was discovered there was an arrest warrant in existence for his arrest issued from Brookline District Court for Receiving Stolen Motor Vehicle, Operating Recklessly and Operating without a License.
