Medford man assault TPD Officer.

Xavier Galatis
On June 14, 2016 at approximately 2:20pm Transit Police officers assigned to the North District were on patrol at the MBTA's Harvard Station when their attention was drawn to a male, later identified as Xavier Galatis, 23, of Medford. Prior to the officers arrival Galatis had fare evaded and was confronted by an MBTA employee when he became violent and threatened the employee with death. Officers approached Galatis and were greeted by the same belligerent behavior and threats. Officers requested Galatis cease his tumultuous behavior and leave the station. Galatis refused and continued to shout threats at the officers and racial epithets at MBTA employees. Officers attempted to place Galatis into custody and he violently resisted striking the officer in the torso area. After a lengthy struggle Galatis was subdued and taken into custody. Galatis was transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. It is expected Galatis will be arraigned sometime today in Cambridge District Court Assault & Battery on a Police Officer, Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Arrest.
