Transit Police disrupt Larceny in progress.

Bruce Perez
On August 16, 2015 at approximately 2:20pm a Transit Police officer working in Area 2 was on patrol at the Alewife MBTA station. While there his attention was drawn to a male, later identified as Bruce Perez, 28, of Somerville. Perez appeared as if he was scanning various bicycles secured to the bike racked. Perez stopped at a particular bicycle, removed a set of bolt cutters from his backpack and attempted to cut the lock off of the bicycle he had an interest in. The officer disrupted Perez and prevented him from stealing the bicycle. Perez was placed into custody for Attempted Larceny of a Bicycle and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process.

During the booking process Perez was found to be in possession of a second set of bolt cutters. Additionally, it was discovered there were several warrants in existence for Perez' arrest issued from Somerville District Court for; Assault & Battery, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, 2 counts of Larceny and 2 counts of Destruction of Property over 250.00.
