In the early morning hours of January 14, 2014 at MBTA Boylston Street station two vintage trolleys that were on display for the public to enjoy were vandalized. The trolley that sustained the most damage was built in the 1950's by the Pullman-Standard Company based out of Lowell, Ma. In July of 2014 Transit Police announced, subsequent to an investigation, an arrest warrant was secured for Daniel Nelligan, 25, of Whitman for his role in vandalizing the historic trolleys. Over the next several months detectives assigned to the Transit Police Special Crimes Unit worked diligently to identify the second individual involved. During that time the suspect continued his campaign of vandalism against the MBTA, private and city of Boston owned property. Several weeks ago TPD detectives,working in collaboration with Boston Police and Boston University Police, positively identified Marc Meadowcroft, 19, of Revere as the Graffiti Vandal "CIGA".
On March 10, 2015 TPD Detectives placed Meadowcroft into custody at his residence in Revere. Meadowcroft will be arraigned sometime today in Boston Municipal Court-Central Division for 14 counts of Felony "Tagging".
