Medford man arrested for Assault

Gary Biddiscombe
On April 22, 2014 at approximately 9:30 pm Transit Police officers working in Area 2 received a radio call to respond to Malden Center MBTA station for a report of an assault in progress. Upon arrival officers (assisted by Malden Police) were informed of the following; two males, one later identified as Gary Biddiscombe, 23 of Medford, while travelling on an northbound Orange Line train were yelling obscenities and provoking fights with other passengers. As the train pulled into Malden Center station and passengers were exiting Biddiscombe's companion proceeded to " sucker punch" a male victim. The victim while defending himself from the first male's assault was then set upon and kicked in the head by Biddiscombe.

Biddiscombe was placed into custody for Assault & Battery with a Dangerous Weapon (Shod Foot) and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. It is expected Biddiscombe will be arraigned sometime today in Malden District Court. Transit Police anticipate Assault charges will be sought against Biddiscombe's companion.
