UPDATE
On November 19, 2013 subsequent to an investigation Transit Police detectives arrested a male juvenile from Somerville for Assault with Intent to Rob. The juvenile was transported to Transit Police HQ for the booking process and will appear Boston Juvenile Court.

On November 13, 2013 at approximately 9:27 am Transit Police officers from Area 1 received a radio call to respond to MBTA Charles MGH station for a robbery in progress. Upon arrival officers located a 25 year old female victim who furnished the following information; Victim boarded a Red Line train at Alewife station and placed her purse/bag on the floor between her feet. As the train entered Charles/MGH station and the doors opened a male subject grabbed her purse and fled off the train. Several passengers who had witnessed what occurred attempted to prevent the male subject's escape. Although they were unsuccessful they were able to gain control of the victim's purse.

Transit Police conducted an area search for the male subject to no avail. This incident is currently under investigation by TPD Detectives. The victim sustained a minor laceration to her hand that did not require medical attention at that time.
