Brockton man arrested for Unarmed Robbery-Andrew Sq. MBTA station

On November 5, 2013 at approximately 10:50 a.m. Transit Police officers from Area 3 received a radio call for a robbery in progress at Andrew Sq. MBTA station. Upon arrival officers were met by a female victim who pointed out a male, later identified as Chino Young, 21 of Brockton, and informed the officers Young had stolen her Apple iPad. The victim further explained she was seated on a bench on the northbound platform and reading from her iPad. Young sat next to her and as a train pulled into the station Young forcefully grabbed the iPad from her hands and fled up the stairs. The victim pursued Young and was able to grab hold of him, a struggle ensued and the victim was able to retrieve her iPad.

Officers placed Young into custody for Unarmed Robbery and Assault&Battery. He was transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process and is expected to be arraigned sometime today in South Boston District Court. The victim did not report any injuries to officers at that time.
