Patriots Fans Urged to Leave Bags at Home

New NFL bag policy prohibits most handbags, backpacks and
purses in stadium, bag storage not available

(Boston, MA) – In response to a new National Football League (NFL) bag policy, the Massachusetts Bay Commuter Rail (MBCR) urges all fans utilizing MBTA Commuter Rail “Football Trains” for New England Patriots’ home games to leave all bags and backpacks at home.

There is no storage available at Gillette Stadium for items that do not meet NFL requirements. No personal items may be left on trains during games. In addition, there is no storage available at commuter rail stations.

The recommendation comes in response to NFL limitations on the size and types of bags that are allowed in NFL stadiums.

MBCR operates special train service from South Station in Boston and T.F. Green Airport in Providence to Gillette Stadium for all Patriots home games.

Purses larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, diaper bags, fanny packs, cinch bags, seat cushions, luggage, computer bags and camera bags are prohibited from the stadium. Fans with prohibited items will not be allowed access to entering the stadium plaza, gates, or queue lines.

Each person can bring a one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag or a clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC bag that does not exceed 12” x 6” x 12”. In addition to the clear bag, fans can bring a small clutch bag no larger than 4.5” x 6.5” with or without a strap.

Items that can be carried by hand or in pockets, such as binoculars, cameras, phones and blankets are allowed in the stadium. A separate entrance will be set up for fans carrying bags containing medically necessary items.
