Boston Man arrested for Unarmed Robbery

On August 1, 2013 at approximately 1:05am Transit Police received a radio call to respond to Alewife MBTA station for a report of an Unarmed Robbery. Cambridge Police also responded to assist, upon arrival officers were met by the victim who relayed the following sequence of events: the victim had just exited a Red Line train and proceeded up the escalator from the platform. Upon reaching the top of escalator the victim was approached by a male who ask the victim for any spare money. The victim responded he did not have any money and continued on his way however the male followed him and continued to badger the victim for money. The victim upon reaching his vehicle quickly entered however when he attempted to close his door the male stepped in preventing the door from closing. At this time the male demanded the victim give him money or insinuated the victim would be harmed. The victim handed the male cash, upon receiving the cash the male stepped away from the vehicle and the victim shut the door and quickly drove away.

Officers conducted an area search for the male and located a person of interest who matched the description provided in the busway area. The victim positively identified the male. The male, later identified as Michael Dumais, 29 of Boston, was taken into custody and transported to Transit Police HQ for the arrest booking process. Dumais is expected to be arraigned sometime today in Cambridge District Court for Unarmed Robbery.
