MBTA Transit Police to accept Lateral Transfers from Massachusetts Civil Service Police Departments

Police Officer- Lateral Transfer

Closing Date: August 16, 2013

Salary Range: 51,000 to 76,000 per year

 

Requirements:
Current Massachusets Civil Service Police Officer
Be at least 21 years of age at time of hire;
Posses or have the ability to obtain and maintain the following: Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator’s license; Massachusetts Class A large capacity License to Carry Firearms;

Be able to successfully complete a comprehensive pre-employment background investigation, physical, drug and psychological testing;

Massachusetts Police Training Committee (MPTC) (formerly the Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Council (MCJTC)) Basic Officer Recruit Academy Certificate, or possess a current MPTC academy waiver for equivalent out of state academy training;
Be a non-smoker;

Minimum of one year (post MPTC academy graduation) full-time policing; and
Have a release from their current department indicating the Appointing Authority’s approval for a lateral transfer if selected for the position of MBTA Transit Police Officer.

 Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following:

Associates degree (or higher);

Two years full-time policing; and

Graduate of the MBTA Transit Police Academy;
